The BMW R 71 (or R-71) was a type of motorcycle produced from 1938 to 1939 and used by the Wehrmacht. Before WWII, number of R-71 motorcycles was exported to Netherlands and used by its army.[1]

When Colonel Hans Landa arrives at Perrier LaPadite's farm in his Mercedes-Benz 170 VK, he is being escorted by two R12 motorcycles. The motorcycles lacked their typical sidecar.
In the first scene of Chapter Three, where Shosanna brings a basket full of title letters outside, a BMW R 71 motorcycle with sidecar is seen parked on the street, near Shosanna's cinema.
