Denis Ménochet at the 2009 Cannes Film premiere

At the 2009 Cannes Film Festival premiere.

“I saw "Pulp Fiction" when I was in high school and I consider myself a product of his cinema. But idolatry have clamped me and work has replaced the legend. This film was a gift. Additionally, Quentin offered each actor an autographed copy of his typed and military plate on which was engraved copy scenario "Because we love making movies!", the phrase that the team yelled in chorus after each shot.”
―Denis Ménochet on his time on the film[1]

Denis Ménochet (born 18 September 1976 in Enghien-les-Bains, Val-d'Oise) is a French film and television actor. Menochet is perhaps best known to the international audience for his role of the French dairy farmer interrogated by the Nazis for harboring Jews Perrier LaPadite, in the 2009 Quentin Tarantino film, Inglourious Basterds.

Elizabeth Weitzman, a film critic for the New York Daily News, praised Menochet's work opposite Christoph Waltz in the opening scene of Inglourious Basterds. Weitzman wrote in August 2009, "The terrific opening, for example, does feature a hailstorm of bullets. What you'll remember best, though, is the haunted silence of actor Denis Menochet, playing a French farmer accused of harboring Jews."[2]
