- “Whiskey.”
- ―Hugo Stiglitz
Whiskey (in United States) or whisky (in Great Britain) is a type of distilled strong alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash.
In Inglourious Basterds[]
Lt. Archie Hicox serves himself and general Ed Fenech straight whisky. At the La Louisiane, Wicki, Stiglitz and Hicox order some whiskey. Before departing, Dieter Hellstrom offers the three Basterds a 33 year old whisky. Hicox commented that it is "damn good stuff, sir".
Trivia[]
- The choice of strong drink by the Basterds and the Germans in the French tavern mirrors the WWII Western front: The Basterds table, aka the Allied side, drink whiskey, a Western drink, while the Germans table, the enemy side, drink schnapps, a German drink; there's a fight between the two sides on French territory (the La Louisiane tavern), which ends with The Basterds (Allies) winning, though at heavy costs and the French territory being severely damaged.
