Aldo Raine

Morphine (/ˈmɔrfiːn/; also called MS Contin, MSIR, Avinza, Kadian, Oramorph, Roxanol, Kapanol) is a potent opiate analgesic drug that is used to relieve severe pain. It was first isolated in 1804 by Friedrich Sertürner, and is generally believed to be the first ever isolation of a natural plant alkaloid in history.

In Inglourious Basterds[]

At the veterinary clinic in Nadine, the veterinary gives some morphine to Bridget von Hammersmark via injection, after she got shot in the leg in the tavern, to ease the pain, so he can extract the bullet from her leg. Later Aldo tells her that the doc will "fill you up with morphine till it's coming out your ears" so that she will be able to enter the film premiere without feeling any pain from the gunshot and injuries sustained after the tavern firefight.

Trivia[]

  • Hermann Göring was addicted to morphine, though this fact is not mentioned in the film, nor does it play any role in the film in any way.
