Stiglitz's knife is an SS dagger that he used to kill Nazis.

Overview

The knife is an SS dagger, complete with a sheath and a chain lanyard. The blade is made of hardened steel.

In Inglourious Basterds

Hugo Stiglitz used one such knife to kill at least one Gestapo officer, whom he stabbed in the face, through a pillow. After he was released by the Basterds from jail, he took another SS dagger, no doubt looted from dead German soldiers. He is seen sharpening it in the abandoned house on a sharpening belt, before entering the La Louisiane tavern, where the three Basterds were supposed to meet with Bridget von Hammersmark. After Hicox blows his cover, Stiglitz shoots Hellstrom in the testicles and proceeds to stab the dead Major in the back of the head, until the female sergeant shoots him. The knife is seen being stuck in the Major's neck.

Trivia

• Hugo Stiglitz's knife has written on it 'Meine Ehre heißt Treue', which means 'Loyalty is my honor' (lit. 'My honor is named loyalty'). This phrase was the motto of the SS.
• In the abandoned house, Stiglitz is shown slowly sharpening his knife. At the end of each stroke there is an ominous "shhhlick" sound as he twists the blade with a flick. This would actually remove the edge he is attempting to sharpen, and dull the blade.
• In the trailer, he is seen slamming Hellstrom's head on the table, after he shoots him. This scene is supposed to happen before Stiglitz stabs the Major in the neck.
